Medicines - Children finishing a course of medicine may attend school if they are well enough.  Medicines are kept in the staff room and should be given to the teacher in the morning with a signed consent form  It is the responsiblity of the parent to ensure the medicine is taken home.

Each class has a medical alert form outlining the procedure to be taken in case of emergency in individual cases.  Emergency contact numbers are also required on this form.

Please inform the school if your child has a medical condition.  Inhalers are kept in classrooms so they are easily accessible.

Accident Reporting/First Aid - All accidents are noted on an accident form indicating the cause and treatment given.  At the end of the day you will be asked to sign an accident form to show that the class teacher has spoken to you about the incident.  If our child is collected by a childminder or friend, they will be asked to sign the form.  Please tell them about this procedure.  In case of an accident requiring further medical attention, we will follow our practice of contacting you immediately.

Homework

  • Children in Foundation Stage are sometimes set a task to do at home.  We do encourage parents to hear reading and each child has a home/school reading book and accompanying record book.
  • Pupils in Years 1 and 2 may be given small tasks to complete at home, including spelling, reading and tables.
  • Pupils in Years 3, 4 5 and 6 are set regular written homework.
  • Pupils in Years 5 and 6 will be given extra projects in order to establish a routine for the transition to Secondary School.  In all these cases parents will be consulted, ensuring home/school liaison.

Expressing Your Concerns - From time to time, parents  may have reason to be concerned about their child's education.  If you are concerned, you should in the first instance approach your child's class teacher; then if necessary, one may approach the Headteacher.  The Governing Board is also there to assist parents and may be contacted through the Chair of Governors.  If a concern relates to the curriculum, there is a statutory procedure established by the LA for dealing with written complaints.
